Relief Nursery and The Eugene Marathon: I Run For The Children

Relief Nursery has partnered with the 2019 Eugene Marathon
through its Run For Free program.

Our goal is to continue building community awareness and raise money for Relief Nursery programs.

Ways you can be part of it:

1. Sign up to run on our team through Relief Nursery’s Crowdrise page and run for free. You commit to fundraising at least the registration cost for the race you want to run (5K, half or full marathon) and a large percentage of it will be donated to Relief Nursery.
Sign up to run here.

2. Volunteer with Relief Nursery staff and friends at our designated water station. Help us cheer on the runners while keeping them hydrated from 7 am – 11 am on Sunday, April 28th. Sign up to volunteer here.

3. Support the Relief Nursery team or a specific team member with their fundraising efforts here.

Some runners who are Running for the Children shared with us why they chose to do so.

I just wanted to share why I decided to sign up and Run
for the Children. I moved to Eugene to start law school, but
while I was in undergrad in Missouri I actually worked with an
organization similar to Relief Nursery so supporting groups that
help children has always been important to me. The sorority
I was in actually worked with Prevent Child Abuse America,
and we worked with a local crisis center that helped children
and women in abusive situations. I’ve been wanting to sign up
for a marathon for a while, and when I saw I could help raise
money for Relief Nursery and run a marathon I knew this was
the perfect opportunity. Anyways, thanks for giving me the
opportunity to help to Run for the Children and raise money to
support your organization!”

Thanks for helping me get on board to run for the Relief Nursery and I am happy
to share a bit about why I chose y’all. I am a transplant from Michigan who has spent
the last 7 years working for the Northwest Youth Corps developing programming and partnerships.
In September of 2017 I started my Masters in Social Work through Portland State University.
I attended a practicum orientation a few months ago where a representative from the Nursery shared
the work you are doing. Last year I ran for casa but now that I know about the wonderful work
getting done there I am excited to support it.
Looking forward to raising the money and to a great run. Thanks for all the important work you do.”
